Supervised law student interns
enrolled in the University of Connecticut Criminal Law Clinic in their
representation of indigent defendants. Under the close supervision of Professor
Sheldon, Attorney Richard Reeve, and I, the students planned and executed
investigations, prepared pleadings, argued motions, examined witnesses,
counseled clients, negotiated with state's attorneys, prosecuted appeals, and
performed most other tasks associated with criminal defense. I took part in and
occasionally organized classroom demonstrations, role-playing, seminars on
procedure, and videotaped simulations. I critiqued, counseled, and cheered
student attorneys, as needed.
